Session 06 : Belief Tree
How does God transform our lives? What does the process of becoming more like Christ look like? In this session, we have a missionary couple from central Asia exploring what that looks like. In John 15, Jesus says “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” This teaching is called the “Belief Tree." So often, we are obsessed with asking “What does God want me to do?” when instead we should be asking “Who does God want me to become?” Who we become determines what kind of fruit we produce in our lives. In the same way, you wouldn’t expect to find oranges growing on a cherry tree, the kind of people we become determines what kind of fruit we bear in the kingdom of God. It is great to seek to produce good fruit in our lives but the process is not as simple as taping fruit on a branch.
